Anyone who knows me knows that I started getting into art with animated films from Disney, Don Bluth and Warner Brothers. I studied it while in college and had a temporary job creating quick advertisements at one point. For almost a year, I did not touch After Effects, Toon Boom, or Cinema 4D. Now I am starting to dust off the knowledge I have on this medium for work. Here are two examples of quick animations I did for digital signage.
"You're A Messed Up Teenager, Charlie Brown"
So, I haven't posted for a while but here is a brief insight into a project I worked on recently. I was approached by a theatre director to provide imagery to compliment the play "Dog Sees God." This was an exploration into Charles Schulz characters such as Charlie Brown, Lucy, Schroeder and the gang as they enter young adulthood. I will admit that "Peanuts" is probably my favorite cartoon strip as well as a major part of my childhood. During all the fall and winter holidays, my family gathers around to watch the beloved Bill Melendez-animated TV specials.
That is why some of the subject matter in the play, admittedly, rubbed me the wrong way. You will have to read/see the play to understand what I mean. That being said, I also liked the challenge of combining the pen and ink look of Schulz with an almost Frank Miller style in these shots. Showcased below are some of the more striking images that I came up with for the play.

Day 1
In the event of getting a new stylus for my iPad, I have decided to take on a 30 Day sketch challenge to help jump start my skills in digital illustration. With such powerful apps as Adobe Illustrator Draw, Autodesk Graphic, Animation Desk, Paper 53, and Tayasui Sketches, there are so many reasons for me to use my tablet for different projects. This first week, my first assignment was a least favorite: self portrait. That is the image shown above. The rest can be seen as you scroll down.
